Accounting and Management Technology

This program will enable you to intervene at all stages of the accounting cycle. You will study working capital management, financial analysis, internal auditing, budget planning, costing, investment valuation, liability measurement and personal and corporate income taxes.

About the program

Program objectives
This program trains individuals to become accounting and management technicians.

In the field of accounting, these technicians work at every stage of the accounting cycle and provide technical support for all accounting-related tasks: implementing accounting systems, managing working capital, conducting financial analyses, handling internal controls and auditing, planning budgets, determining manufacturing costs, mapping investments and their performance as well as measuring liabilities and ensuing costs. Personal and corporate income tax is also an area of specialty where their skills are put to use. This type of work includes numerous repetitive tasks as well as an increasing number of tasks related to analysis, planning and dispensing technical advice to managers and clientele.

In the field of corporate management, these individuals provide support and assistance for human, financial and material resources. They can be mandated with tasks related to supply management, sales and projects, market development, commercial transactions and supervision of personnel. Management technicians generally work in highly computerized environments and use integrated management tools and approaches, contribute to managing the quality of the service provided and, above all, process and share information. They often act as intermediaries between different company departments, suppliers and clientele.

Whether they work in accounting or management, these individuals are able to quickly analyze problems, react accordingly and demonstrate creativity, adaptability and autonomy. Good judgment, initiative and the ability to analyze and summarize and therefore essential assets.

Condition of admission

Before applying to a program leading to a Diploma of College Studies (DCS), applicants who studied in Québec must meet the following three requirements:

The applicant must have a Secondary School Diploma and be in one of the following situations:
The applicant has a Secondary School Diploma (SSD)*
NOTE: a SSD holder that has not passed the following courses may be required to complete remedial courses:
Secondary 5 Language of Instruction
Secondary 5 Second Language
Secondary 4 Mathematics
Secondary 4 Science and Technology or Secondary 4 Applied Science and Technology or Secondary 4 Physical Science
Secondary 4 History and Citizenship Education or Secondary 4 History of Quebec and Canada
The applicant holds a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) and has successfully completed the following subjects*:
Secondary 5 Language of Instruction
Secondary 5 Second Language
Secondary 4 Mathematics
The applicant has training deemed equivalent by the College.
The applicant has training and experience deemed sufficient by the College and has interrupted full time studies for at least 24 months.
The applicant satisfies, if applicable, the special conditions for admission established by the Minister which specify the program prerequisites*.
The applicant satisfies, if applicable, any special conditions for admission established by the College for each of its programs.


*If the applicant is enrolled in school and completing his or her secondary studies at the time of application, the grades sent by the school must demonstrate that the applicant is passing in all the courses required to complete the SSD and required to fulfill the admission requirements.
